Birds Eye View of Bangkok (In Relation with ASEAN Workshop)

Third day of Workshop, we had two activities. Those are country presentation and birds eye view of Bangkok. What I going to share now is the second one. So Lets start!

After each countries have their presentation, then the activities continued by visit city farm project: alternative of city people (located at Ladphrao 71). In city farm we met  P’Prince. P’Prince has a urban garden in Bangkok. He said, "I love being farmer. Once you do what you love. Your world view will change." Another one positive against the current in urban area. Here, He explained everything about his farm and what he have done for his farm and people surround him. He started his farm since 5 years ago. Then he came to question,"Why should we do city farm?"

Here the answers.
First one was common crisis. In order to face economy crisis, people needed to produce their own food by doing city farm so that they come to food security. It can be interesting if family has their own garden. They can take vegetables from their garden.
Second was climate change. Nowadays climate change made everything changed. Doing city farm will helps us make it better,
Third, Sustainable agriculture comes to sustainable consumption.
Besides, P'Prince also has programs related to city farm. That was organic food education and garden picnic.

After observing P’Prince’s garden, we moved to other City Farm which build by P’Oh. P'Oh has organic garden. He invested six million on football field and converted it to be integrated garden according to King's economic sufficient philosophy. P’Oh said,”no worries about income-outcome because living life this way doesn't need income for surviving. Food is all around you.” P’Oh gave a lot of explanation about City Farm and his thought about how people in City should be in order to make green area in City.

Then activities is continued by explore and orientate Birds’ Eye View of Bangkok. This activities started from Ladphrao MRT station. Delegates and their mentor started to take public transportation for their activities.

Firstly we took MRT from Ladhprao to Petchaburi station in order to go to Chao Phraya River. After we arrived at Petchaburi station near Chao Phraya River then we took boat and explore Chao Phraya river and started think why people still use boat as transportation tools even it was very dangerous. Then we also though why people still throw their rubbish to the river besides they used river for their life. We came to the discussion and continued orientate Bangkok and we arrived at Golden Temple by walking around 1 km. After that we came to Sutus Temple by walking for about 3 km, and went back hotel by Taxi and Tuk-tuk. Bangkok has very bad traffic in evening!

Arriving in Hotel, delegates had to gather at 6th floor to have discussion. After having dinner, Mr Kanaruth Mingmethaporn and team gave presentation about How Bangkok can become a green city. Besides Mr Kanaruth Mingmethaporn explained about transportation in Bangkok, from Bangkok Mass Transit System, MRT (Metropolitan Rapid Transit) and Airport Link State Railway of Thailand.

After have an explanation from him, then delegates asked to gather with their own group then having a discussion about City Farm and Green City which consist of three circles. That was economy, environment, and society with sustainable development in the center of it. Every members of group should gave their idea about city farm and green city, then two of representative each group would presented group discussion result.
